It transports firefighters to training exercises, hydrant testing and other public duties. On rare occasions such as the big plastics factory fire in Otaki, it is used to transport relief crews to a fire site. The impossible-to-miss colour scheme keeps firefighters safer on training nights as we are often working on the roadside.
The van is the result of major contributions from New World Paremata, locally-owned design company Digitex, Bright's Mitre 10 and the people of Plimmerton who donated through their attendance at a fireman's ball. |
