Plimmerton 351 was given the task of protecting a row of houses on Castor Cres downwind from the main fire front. After speaking with householders we ran a feeder from the street down a very steep hill to in front of the base of the fire. Liased with Bush Fire and other units. Helicopters with monsoon buckets eventually extinguished the fire. Made up equipment and carried it up the hill. |

Worked with towtruck crews to seperate the truck and car, and re-open SH1. |

Called with Paekakariki 361 by multiple "111" calls to a large scrub fire, reportedly in the same location as Call 13 (below). Turnout was delayed due to defective apparatus. Requested additional backup from Porirua. On arrival found large scrub fire, very similar to Call 13. Established helicopter filling point and command point in carpark below fire. With reports of three houses in immediate critical danger plus the possible need to pump water from the sea to fill the helicopter monsoon buckets, 351 O/C requested that a total of ten pumps be dispatched to the scene. As it became clear that houses were not endangered and the helicopters could fill directly from the sea the turnout was reduced, and pumps on scene were progressively released. Fire was extinguished by helicopters and the Bush Fire Force. |

After an extensive search the vehicle was located on SH58 about 1km west of Puatahanui. No persons were found trapped (or even present) on arrival, but the vehicle was on fire. After liasing with Porirua 317 we were released to return to Plimmerton. |

Eventually extinguished fire with two helicopters,

Command Vehicle, and the Hutt and Wellington Rural Fire
